How come there are always Mormons on the Biggest Loser? I'm pretty sure there are at least two teams this season, season 11, that are Mormon (*the pink and gray teams). There is certainly a greater percentage of Mormons on the show than is in America. Are Mormons a fatter subset of society? Or does the Biggest Loser like having them on the show? What do you think?
*These teams have not said that they are Mormon on the show---I have just assumed it. Denise's (pink team) video on episode 6 showed her daughter's wedding it was certainly a Mormon wedding at a Mormon temple (It actually looked like the Vegas temple based on the doors). And the gray team is a Tongan family from Shelley, Idaho, so come on, Mormon.
Don't forget Rulan on the yellow team! He's Mormon too. I've totally noticed the same thing, though. Chad and I think it's all those family reunions ;)
ReplyDeleteOh course! I completely forgot about Rulan the gold medalist! So that makes at least 5. Which just furthers my point about how many Mormons there are on the show.
ReplyDeleteAnd I looked it up, the temple was the Bountiful one.
Yeah it was because my friend from when I lived in Utah was one of her friends hugging her in the clip.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been watching this season, even though I love the Biggest Loser. Rulon is from Logan- we almost went to one of the tapings for one of his "homecomings" haha. Anyway, that is a lot of Mormons. So many family reunions, ward parties, weddings, baby showers, engagement parties, etc. And so many domestic women baking scrumptious (but fattening) cookies, cupcakes, real cakes, cheescakes, etc.
ReplyDeleteErin you totally should have gone! But on a more serious note I thought that if in fact Mormons tend to be fatter that maybe it's because they self medicate with food whereas maybe non-Mormons tend to use alcohol or smoke. Which is less fattening. Just a thought though
ReplyDeleteI agree with what my dad said on facebook. also I think the church teaches us we need to keep our bodies healthy, the word of wisdom also says everything in moderation... as LDS people.. we should really take that to heart considering it is a commandment. But, then again everyone has their weakness right?

also alcohol is pretty fattening, and if Mormons need to "self medicate" maybe they should see a shrink.. haha pun intended.
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree with your dad too Erica. But I meant that a little alcohol a day has less calories than McDonald's everyday does.
ReplyDeleteI would guess that high percentage of LDS couples do, simply because it is both clean and entertaining. hose 2 requirements eliminate 90% of other primetime shows. More LDS fans=more LDS people trying to get on the show=more LDS on the show.
ReplyDeleteEither that or we just need to lay off the funeral potatoes. :>)
hahaha yeah i agree with ashley
